THE USE OF AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN TEACHING SPEAKING SKILLS: THEORY AND PRACTICE

This article explores the role of authentic materials in developing speaking skills in foreign language learning. It examines the theoretical foundations, pedagogical value, and practical applications of authentic resources in enhancing learners’ communicative competence. The study highlights how exposure to real-life language use contributes to the development of fluency, pronunciation, pragmatic awareness, and sociolinguistic competence. Furthermore, the paper analyzes the integration of authentic materials within modern teaching approaches such as Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Task-Based Learning (TBL). The findings suggest that systematic and purposeful use of authentic materials significantly improves learners’ speaking performance, motivation, and confidence. The article also discusses potential challenges and offers practical strategies for effective classroom implementation.
